History of Four Oaks Ground

Our amazing new ground has an incredible story, one we are very proud of, a lot of time and hard work has gone into this project. This is our story….

The club brought the land in 2016, as you can see it didn’t look much like a cricket ground then. We were told by one local it was the “Wettest ground in Alveley”, thankfully we were guided by a qualified pitch advisor: When we purchased the land the first job was to have it cleared, it was used for fly tipping, drinking and off road vehicles, we then had to secure the site as you can see from the photos it was open with no fencing. Yet the potential for the site was huge……..

Received change of use – Work was done to remove blackthorn hedge and fence the ground, during this time we had to have a number of reports done, Ecological, arboricultural, traffic, drainage, noise to name a few.

Construction of square and outfield commenced, this included future proofing with ducting etc for electrics, data cables. The work took around 8 weeks to complete.

Planning permission received for the Pavilion, we continued to work on the wicket and outfield as well as working with the utility companies to secure electric and water. We also registered the site as a Queens Fields in Trust site.

Pavilion sited, it was recycled from an old nursery building that was just 3 years old. The nursery was asked to vacate their premises and needed to sell it quickly. Following a site visit, it was clear the building was ideal for our needs, we had the building transported from Nuneaton, its was moved in 6 large sections in just one day. It took a week to be fixed into position. During 2019 the ground was used for the first time as a cricket ground.

Hundreds if not thousands of hours were given up by our volunteers. Work continued to transform the Pavilion, this included new electrics, plumbing, fire alarm, CCTV, cladding and a lot of building work!

Construction of the score box, all done via our volunteers using the old board from the Recreation Ground.
